Potato Planting Tips:
1. Get seed potatoes based on cooking purpose.
2. Place unpacked potatoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place without strong light. (Eg garage bench or garden shed), 5-10°C.
4. Let them sprout for a few weeks.
5. Prepare soil - mix in compost or fertiliser.
6. Dig a trench 15 cm deep.
7. When shoots are 2cm long, plant potatoes 40 cm apart. Cover potatoes with at least 5cm of soil.
8. Top up the soil each week, until a mound forms (15-20 cm height). Ensure 5cm of the plants' stem is sticking out.

1. AVOID: Excessive overhead watering.
2. Insect-proof netting helps.
3. Harvest when flowers are beginning to die off (generally).
4. Use fork to loosen dirt around the plants, gently pull out spuds.
5. After harvest, dig the plant back into the ground to improve your soil's nitrogen content.
6. If you have limited garden space, potatoes can also be grown in grow bags and pots.
