Gardening is a fruitful exercise! It is also an incredible learning experience; and, a garden journal could be your most valuable tool.
Here are some ideas of what to write on your journal:
1. Photos of your garden setup (before and after).
2. Planting calendar - it helps to track the best plants that grow in your garden, in which season, what month or year.
3. A wish list! This is a favourite - what are you thinking of growing next? What do these new plants need to survive?
4. Growth tracker - how long does it take for a plant to grow and fruit?
5. List of helpful gardening resources
6. Things to watch out for (pests, disease, etc)
7. Other observations about the garden - changes in weather, new plants that come up unexpectedly, and lessons learned.
8. Experiments and results - did you do anything different this year - a new fertiliser or a new garden location for a specific variety?
A garden journal is a great little handbook or resource to share or pass on to new gardeners in the family!
